The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday handed Certificates of Return to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

This came about following their victory in the state’s governorship election on March 18.

Sanwo-Olu won the election with 762134 votes, defeating his closest competitors, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party with 312,329 votes and Olajide Adediran of the People’s Democratic Party with 62,449 votes. Sanwo-Olu was re-elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor and his deputy went to the INEC office in the state with their wives to get the Certificate of Return that would keep them in office for an additional four years.

In his address to the crowd, Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his demand for calm and peaceful cooperation and issued a strong warning against intolerance of all kinds, including religious and racial hatred.
