2025 Africa Cup of Nations Draw: Nigeria Join Morocco, South Africa, and Senegal in Pot 1

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ranked Nigeria as one of the top teams for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after unveiling the top seeds for the qualifying draws.

CAF has placed the Super Eagles alongside 11 other top African countries in pot one ahead of the draw ceremony, scheduled to be held today (July 4) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

According to the Daily Post, Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo will join Nigeria in pot one of the draws.

CAF has used the highest-ranked nations according to the latest FIFA Rankings to select the top seeds for the draws, with the Super Eagles currently ranked the fifth-best team on the continent.

The AFCON 2025 finals, which will be hosted in Morocco, will be played between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
