The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that 5,169,692 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) have been retrieved in preparation for the November 11th gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, stated in a press release that there are 239,746 uncollected PVCs across the three states.

“The breakdown for the three States indicates that out of 1,056,862 registered voters in Bayelsa, 1,017,613 have collected their PVCs and 39,249 are uncollected.

“In Imo State, the number of registered voters is 2,419,922 out of which 2,318,919 have collected their PVCs and 101,003 are uncollected.

“In Kogi State, out of 1,932,654 registered voters, 1,833,160 have collected their PVCs, leaving 99,494 uncollected,” he said.

Olumekun mentioned that the commission convened on Monday to review preparations for the off-cycle gubernatorial elections in these three states.

He also noted that detailed information about the PVCs, including distribution by polling units, registration areas/wards, polling unit names, code numbers, registered voter numbers, and the tally of collected and uncollected PVCs, has been made available on INEC’s website at www.inecnigeria.org.

Furthermore, the data includes details about two polling units in Bayelsa and 38 in Imo that have no registered voters.

Olumekun urged stakeholders to take note of this information and reminded them that any vote from a polling unit exceeding the number of PVCs collected would constitute over-voting.

The number of collected PVCs will be used to calculate the margin of lead principle.
