ICPC PARTNERS NOA ON “MY CONSTITUENCY, MY PROJECT” CAMPAIGN IN KADUNA

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) have partnered with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on the Constituency Project Campaign in Kaduna state.

The project named ‘My Constituency my Project Programme’ is aimed at educating and sensitizing citizens on the need to monitor projects within their localities.

ICPC Director General, Professor, Bolaji Owasanye represented by the Kaduna State ICPC Commissioner, shehu Yahaya  while speaking at the town hall meeting held in Kaduna said the purpose of the campaign is to solicit, motivate and encourage citizens to see most constituency projects as theirs as he observed that majority of citizens have little or no interest in monitoring projects done within their localities.

“ICPC and NOA are collaborating on the campaign because money was given for such projects and so they are not gifts from political representatives, it belongs to the people”. He said.

He further stated that it is when these projects are executed that the government has really touched lives of its citizens and so far the commission has tracked constituency projects in 12 states to see if they are executed and will not stop prosecuting contractors who fails to execute projects given to them. ‘We will keep to our mandate to fight against corruption in the country’. He concluded.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Director, General Garba Abari represented by the Kaduna State NOA Coordinator, Galadima Soba, in his opening remarks said if communities begin to monitor such projects well, contractors would begin to execute standard projects.

Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris represented by Ambassador Aminu Yakubu urged ICPC to abide by their roles in fighting corruption.
