YOBE TRAINS 187 YOUTHS ON CASH SERVICES

The Yobe Sustainable Development Goals coordination office, in collaboration with Guaranty Trust Bank, has started training of 187 youths selected across the 17 local government area of Yobe state on cash services.

Briefing journalist in his office the state coordinator SDGs, Musa Suleh Damagum, said that the programme tagged “Buni Money Agents” was one of empowerment schemes that trains young people to work as money agents. According to him the money agents would work as regular ‘POS operators’ providing cash transaction services in the community and would also be trained on account opening, BVN enrollment for bank customers.

He noted that the programme would allow the agents to generate income from both customers and GT Bank depending on the services rendered by them.

He then advised the trainees to be proactive as their ability to attract more customers determines how much money they would earn.

Damagum maintained that with empowerment as one of the four cardinal objectives of Buni administration, more job opportunities would be created for the youths.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Mohammed Hassan said the training would avail them with opportunity to be self-reliant.
