NAIRA MARLEY’S CHARGES WITHDRAWN

Lagos State has withdrawn the charges against Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley for violating the movement restriction order by the state.

The withdrawal was granted to the defendant after he tendered a written apology to the Lagos State Government along with an undertaking to comply with the directives on the lockdown, social distancing and the 14 days isolation.

The withdrawal conditions were;

  1. He has to write a formal apology to the Lagos State Government which will interpret remorselessness shown.
  2.  He has to give an undertaking that they will continue to comply to the directives of Mr. President and Mr. Governor, which is the subject of the case before the court.
  3. In view of the danger which the state believes he has put himself by attending a gathering exceeding 20 persons, he must agree to go on 14 days isolation to protect other members of the public from any likely danger

This made it possible for him (Naira Marley) not be arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba on the 8th of April, for they pleaded remorseful. The three conditions  still apply though.

The defendants also included Former Governorship Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi and his wife.
