2023 ELECTIONS: Additional Elections Will Be Conducted In Anambra By INEC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

In Anambra West and Anambra East Federal Constituency, there will be additional voting because the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, found excessive voting in two polling places.

In Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Dr. Ugochukwu Okafor, made the announcement on Monday.

He claimed that although there were 1,113 registered voters in the two affected polling places, 28,579 votes were cast.

He explained that 2,555 voters were accredited at Polling Unit 004 at Umualum Square in the Aguleri Ward, while 558 voters were accredited at Polling Unit 007 at Umugalagu, also in the Aguleri Ward.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) received 13.782 votes, while Mr. Peter Anaekwe of the Labour Party (LP) received 14,847 votes, the speaker continued.

Obidigwe currently represents the district in the House of Representatives.

Okafor stated that a new date will be set to hold new elections in the two polling units in accordance with INEC guidelines and the Electoral Act 2022.
