The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other presidential candidates in the just-concluded 2023 elections have all been urged to join forces with the President-elect Bola Tinubu in advancing Nigeria.
In the wee hours of Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proclaimed Tinubu the victor of the general election of 2023. He received 8, 794, 726 votes, defeating Atiku (6,984, 520), Obi (6,101,533), and Kwankwaso (1,496,687).
In his acceptance speech, Tinubu made an appeal to his fellow candidates to put the election behind them and join forces with him for a better Nigeria shortly after the establishment of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Secretariat, Abuja.
The incoming president pledged to work with Nigerians of all faiths to create a destiny where people return home to contribute to the growth of their country.
“I hereby accept this serious mandate. to support you rather than take the reins. to collaborate with you and improve Nigeria. I plead with my fellow competitors to allow us to form a team.
It is the sole country we have. We must work together to build this one nation. We must work to keep the country united if we are to build together. Since we have a conductor elected, we must not operate like an orchestra without a conductor.
He pledged to work with you to make Nigeria a place where people want to return to help with its development.
In particular, Tinubu gave the youths the assurance that their four-year program would proceed as scheduled because there would be no strikes during his presidency, as he expressed commitment to the country’s development in all economic sectors.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for giving him their support and promised to serve as president for all, regardless of political party or other affiliations.
The former governor of Lagos expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and his family, the APC national leadership, the Progressive Governors Forum, the APC campaign council, and all party members for his victory and the party’s electoral success.
