Douye Diri, Bayelsa State Governor, yesterday appointed Manager News and Current Affairs, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mr Kola Oredipe, as Head, Social Media in his administration.
The appointment is in the cadre of a Special Adviser.
Until his appointment, Oredipe, a versatile reporter who began his journalism career in 2000 with the now rested South-South Express newspaper in Port Harcourt,had traversed every corners of the Niger Delta covering events in more than seven states in the region in the last 20 years.
The social media aide later joined Port Harcourt-based Dolphins newspaper before switching to Radio Nigeria in 2004.
He had served as Radio Nigeria Bayelsa State Correspondent, Head of News, Treasure 98.5 FM, Port Harcourt, Head of News, Bronze 101.5 FM, Benin-City, Head of News, Creek 106.5 FM, Yenagoa, Acting General Manager, Creek 106.5 FM, and was later promoted Zonal Head of News, Radio Nigeria South-South Zone.
He wrote the fast selling Niger Delta resource material, “Crossover Journalist: Reporting the Niger Delta”, his compiled 15-year experience as a journalist in the Niger Delta.
The Ogun State Born Broadcaster holds a Bachelor of Applied Geology degree from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State. Oredipe slso earned a Post-Graduate Diploma and Masters of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Port Harcourt.
