Manchester United have put on hold all discussions with Chinese Club Shanghai Shenhua over extending Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo’s contract with the club as sporting activities are not certain due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.
It was reported that Manchester United has the intention of retaining the Nigerian Striker who have score 4 goals in 8 matches but the issue of the global football shutdown remains as Ighalo’s loan is due to expire on the 31st of May. And so, the team must know the resumption date of the next season before signing a new contract.
Ighalo during this two months of inactivity as a result of the pandemic have been receiving £130,000 every week.
Willing to offer the Striker a fresh deal worth 400, 000 Pounds a week, the Shanghai Shenhua wants him back as the Chinese Super League is set to resume soon.
”Another factor is the return to fitness of Marcus Rashford and, to a lesser extent, Paul Pogba in that time. It was Rashford’s lay-off due to a back fracture that led to United signing Ighalo in the first place.”
