The Supreme Court of Nigeria has been gutted by fire in the early hours of Monday. Though, no casualty was reported yet, however, the fire outbreak has been significantly brought under control.
The heavy smoke which spiralled into the sky was seen by onlookers as staff of the apex court who came to work early, scampered for safety.
A source who chose to remain anonymous said the fire started around 6 am. It was gathered that the cleaners on duty and some of the workers who resumed early for work detected the fire and raised the alarm.
Three offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa, were touched by the fire. The inferno was said to have burnt a part of the court’s chambers before it was controlled.
Akande added that the stories making the rounds on social media that there are casualties are “fake news”.
