The supplementary election of the Anambra State Governorship poll scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for today, Tuesday in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state has commenced as voters line up to perform their civic rights.
A visit to the Mbosi community, ward 20 showed that voters have already started casting their votes.
A technical officer with the INEC officers who spoke to our correspondent said the voting is going on well, “We started voting at about 12 pm, and there is a satisfactory level of turnout.
“The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine is working perfectly today. We updated our software and today, it is not taking up to one minute to accredit one voter,” she said.
However, it was earlier reported that there are still unavailability of election materials at various polling units as the supplementary election held in Ihiala LGA.
The election which was supposed to commence at 10 am and end at 4 pm has not started as election materials are yet to leave the local government headquarters.
An Electoral Officer on duty said there were areas where electoral personnel refused to go to for security reasons.
