The Igbo Community leaders in Lagos have expressed their gratitude to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the party leaders in the state for confirming Hon. Jude Idimogu as the Igbo Apex Leader of the APC.
This was disclosed by the Eze Ndigbo and Chairman of Ethnic Traditional Rulers in Lagos State, Eze Christian C. Nwachukwu.
According to Eze Nwachukwu, the confirmation of Hon. Idimogu as the Apex Leader has changed the narrative of Ndigbo in Lagos as many Igbo in the state have started identifying with the APC and joining in various wards and Local Governments areas in the state.
He said: ‘’APC will see the impact because Hon. Idimogu is trusted by Igbo sons and daughters and he has already started mobilizing the Igbos from the wards and local government areas in the state and has been accepted by all’’.
Nwachukwu further stated that since the governor confirmed Hon. Idimogu as the apex leader, the Igbo in the opposition parties in the state have showed their interest to join the APC in order to bridge the gap of suspicion that the Igbo in the state do not support the ruling party in the state.
‘’The Igbo are now ready to work with other ethnic groups in the state to work for the APC for 2023 election’’. He added.
He lauded the apex leader for spending his resources moving round wards and local governments mobilizing the Igbo for APC and directing all the Igbo in the state to follow his leadership as he will protect their interest in the state.
Recall that at the palace of Eze Udo Ibeju Lekki, Chief Chris Offia (Okosisi 1 of Egede Kingdom), while Hon. Jude and Hon. Fatai paid a courtesy visit, the chairman of Ndi Eze in Lagos, Eze Nwachukwu presented Hon. Jude Idimogu to Ndigbo Ibeju-Lekki and he was unanimously accepted by all with a promise to mobilise all Ndigbo in Ibeju-Lekki to join APC. The same had taken place at several LGAs.
Nwachukwu went further to appreciate the wife of the National Leader, Senator Mrs Tinubu for supporting Igbo in the state.
Recalling that she commissioned the Igbo Community Centre in Okoto years ago, Nwachukwu added that her support for the Igbo cause in the state has not ceased since then.
He finally thanked the party leaders in the state and reiterated the commitment of the Igbo to work with the party.
Governor Sanwo-Olu recently confirmed Hon. Idimogu as the Igbo Apex Leader in APC and stated that the government will be dealing with him on affairs concerning the Igbo in the state as number one Igbo family in APC Lagos state, GNB News learnt.
