Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party and from partisan politics on Wednesday.
This occurs just hours after the All Progressives Congress defeated his party, the PDP, in the presidential vote.
In order to win the support of the G5 governors, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, rejected the offer of a single term in office, according to Fayose, who made his resignation announcement while appearing as a guest on ARISE TV.
Atiku finished last in the G5 governors’ races, losing to Tinubu of the APC who won three states and Obi of the Labour Party who won two.
Fayose declared his resignation and stated, “Starting today, I stay off PDP.”
He responded, “Let me put it this way, in party politics,” when asked if that was a resignation. mainly because of certain facts. I am 62.
“I step aside here as of today because I must be speaking like a leader in this country,” the speaker declares.
“Even in the months of January and December, I warned the PDP about this issue in a tweet that I posted on my Twitter account. I warned them that danger lay ahead if the situation is not resolved. Observe it.
“His Excellency Atiku Abubakar invited me to a hotel in Lagos. I informed him of four things, informing him that you had to comply with four demands. One, as of last year, you were 76 years old. You are already a candidate, the G-5 said, and you cannot abort a child who has already been born.
“However, let’s return and inform the Southerners that you will serve for four years so that it won’t appear that the North will serve for eight consecutive terms because Buhari is resigning and is serving as the region’s unaffiliated representative.
They instructed His Excellency to make his official announcement, not to give it to a G-5 member. Everyone around him disagrees, claiming that they cannot say something like that because he will say it when he is elected president. Who says that when they have four years to live and will be 80 years old?
Fayose continued by blaming Iyiorcha Ayu, the party’s national chairman, for the failure.
Atiku was led to the gutters by this Ayu. He was taken to the gutters. You can tell when a man is unable to exit. What does he intend to do when he is 80?
When Fayose saw a video of people from a civil society organization in Abuja protesting the election results, he said, “Let me first fault the people I saw here today that are calling themselves civil society. No, they belong to the PDP. Yusuf from Oyo State was the first to speak on behalf of the demonstrators here. He entered the 2019 election as a PDP candidate. He is one of my good brothers. The young lady is also an Oyo State native. They are all PDP participants.
The PDP agents in question. These individuals are only doing this to demonstrate to Nigerians our unhappiness. PDP has been funding many protesters and supporting them financially. They travel and transport individuals.
If you give each one N1000, they might start beating themselves. The number of protesters in this election, which drew close to 22 million voters, can be counted. You count the protesters here, he said.
He stated, “The PDP candidate in Lagos to me, they are people doing theater,” when commenting on the governor’s race in Lagos State. Lagos commerce is a serious endeavor. Lagos faces a lot of difficulties. I therefore implore everyone in Lagos to bring back Sanwo-Olu.
