Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has called the governorship election petitions tribunal’s decision a “miscarriage of justice,” vowing to appeal it to the Court of Appeal.

According to the PUNCH, the Election Petitions Tribunal, which was hearing the All Progressives Congress’ Adegboyega Oyetola’s petition against the Peoples Democratic Party’s Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the July 16 Osun governorship election, annulled the result on Friday.

In a majority decision, Justice Tetsea Kume declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

From his country home in Ede, Adeleke criticized the tribunal’s decision to resolve the over-voting question in favor of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, calling it “an unfair interpretation against the will of the majority of voters.”

While urging his supporters to remain calm, Adeleke promised to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal, claiming he was the rightful winner of the July 16 election.

“I urge our people to maintain their composure. We will appeal the decision, and we are confident that justice will be served. “Please be assured that we will do everything in our power to keep this widely acclaimed mandate,” the governor said in a statement signed by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday.
