Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suspended the reopening of churches, mosques indefinitely.
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the decision was informed by the increase in index cases in Lagos.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State government earlier okayed reopening of religious centers as from June 21, 2020. during a press briefing by Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Government House, Marina.
According to the state’s earlier position, mosques were to reopen from June 19 while churches were billed to resume services from June 21- restricting meeting days to only Fridays and Sundays.

He mentioned that there would be restricted openings of religious houses based on compliance that was seen and reviewed with the Safety Commission.
His words, then: “From 14 days time, precisely on the 19th of June for our Muslim worshippers and from the 21st of June for our Christian worshippers, we will be allowing all of our religious bodies to open at a maximum of 40% of their capacity and we’ll be working with them as being expected by the Lagos State Safety Commission”
