The current Governor of Bayelsa State and the gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, Douye Diri, has emerged as the victor in the recent gubernatorial election held on Saturday.
The announcement was made by the Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, during the collation of election results on Monday.
Diri secured 175,196 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, who obtained 110,108 votes, while the Labour Party garnered 905 votes.
