COVID-19; AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY HYGIENE AND SANITATION- MINISTER

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, said the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is an opportunity to improve on personal and community hygiene and sanitation.

He made this statement while inspecting the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Section IV, Aba-Port Harcourt Road, recently.

According to him,” we must not waste the crisis that COVID-19 represents. It is an opportunity to improve on personal and community hygiene and sanitation such as putting an end to open urination and defecation. This is the third world war but it will not be fought with bullets and rockets. It will be fought with science, medicine and on the economic front”. Fashola said.

He, however, stated that the impact of the ongoing pandemic on infrastructure is significant as President Buhari’s approval of budgets cuts, to fight against the disease, prevents the continuation of critical projects and the livelihood of the suppliers, labourers and daily paid workers, who depend on those projects, have been greatly affected.
