The Katsina State Government on Tuesday night received about 419 Almajiris deported by the Kano State Government
The Secretary to the Government of the State, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, while receiving the Almajiris, emphasised, the readiness of the state to work hand in hand with neighbours to combat COVID-19 pandemic and other social vices waging war against the North West Zone.
He expressed happiness that Katsina and Kano were taking the same measures towards preventing the spread of COVID-19.
The SGS stated that the Katsina State Government had already closed down Islamiyya and Local Quraniq Schools and returned all Almajiris to their parents, including those from Niger Republic.
While thanking the Kano State Government for making adequate arrangements in profiling and quarantining them before handing them over, he called for continuous synergy between the Government of the States adding that all issues hindering the progress of the Zone are surmountable.
He, however, advised parents to desist from sending their wards to unknown places which in the process, exposes them to social dangers under the guise of seeking for religious knowledge as it is the responsibility of every parent to ensure proper upbringing of their children which is totally lacking in the Almajiri system.
Kano Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Muhammad Majidadin Kiru, who led the Kano State team at the hand over which took place at Gidan Mutum Daya, Katsina/Kano border, said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was particularly happy with the quick response from Katsina State, which in less than 24 hours made such huge and speedy arrangements to receive its indigenes adding that consultations were still on in respect of children of other states.
