A popular crossdresser known as Abuja Area Mama was found dead along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway in Abuja on Thursday morning. The discovery was made following a distress call to the police.
Shocking images circulating online show the victim lying in a pool of blood with visible injuries, including scratches and bruises. Personal belongings were scattered around the scene.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed that the victim was a man dressed in female attire and had no form of identification on him.
The body has been taken to Maitama District Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
The police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
