In Ijede community, Ikorodu, Lagos, Egbin Power Plc and Sahara Foundation, a division of Sahara Group, collaborated to formally open the newly renovated Ijede police station.

According to a statement, Egbin Power is committed to improving infrastructure development, socioeconomic growth, and effective policing to promote safety and security in the communities where the company is based.

Mokhtar Bounour, the chief executive officer of Egbin Power Plc, said during the commissioning that the company had further proven its dedication to sustainability by making a difference in people’s lives and adding value to the communities where it operates.

He declared, “This initiative is a part of Egbin Power Plc’s strategy to be more involved in the communities where we operate. We value the work and resources the police put forth to provide adequate security to safeguard people’s lives and property because they are one of our most important stakeholders in the community.

“We also understand that they are working hard to maintain the safety of people and property in our neighborhoods. Therefore, we will continue to show them that we are encouraging and supporting them as they carry out their responsibilities and make a difference through projects of this kind.

Ejiro Gray, the director of sustainability and governance for the Sahara Group, is quoted in the statement as saying that the project “reinforced Sahara Foundation’s commitment to improving lives and promoting sustainable societies.” He also thanked the Nigerian Police Force for their support and cooperation throughout the project.

“What we do at Sahara Foundation is make sure that through initiatives like this, we are transforming and having an impact on people’s lives and livelihood in our host communities,” Gray said. And without ensuring adequate security of people and property, which is essential to the wellbeing of every society and community, we cannot even begin to talk about having an impact. This is one of the ways that Sahara Foundation, Sahara Group, and ultimately Egbin Power Plc are doing their part to change people’s lives and livelihoods in order to promote access to energy and a sustainable environment.
