According to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the Dangote Group has repaid around 70% of the loans it used to build its massive 650,000 bpd refinery in Lagos.
This disclosure was revealed by Emefiele on Monday during the ground-breaking ceremony to commission the refinery, which has been dubbed the largest in Africa and one of the six largest in the world.
“Today, the Dangote Group paid off all of the loans it had taken out for the refinery project, bringing the total down from $9 billion to $2.7 billion. This demonstrates the Dangote Group’s creditworthiness, Emefiele stated.
