DAWN:COVID-19, THE REASON FOR AMOTEKUN’S TAKE OFF DELAY

The take off of the Western Nigeria Security Network called Amotekun has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Announced by theĀ  Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission (DAWN) on Tuesday

” Unfortunately, the whole process has been stagnated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has made the gathering of personnel for training difficult and advisable. The emergency situation posed by this deadly virus has also brought about some security challenges in some states in the region as a result of some measures being taken by the government to prevent it’s spread”

The Commission’s statement further explained that the insecurity challenges brought about by the Federal lockdown directives to curb the spread of the virus caused concerned Nigerians to question why Amotekun hasn’t intervened.

More so, the Commission assured that personnel training would continue as the people of the region promise to be benefit of the security network.
