The new Chairman of the Labour Party, Lagos State, Pastor Dayo Ekong, has announced an all-inclusive leadership template for her administration as part of efforts to achieve the goals and objectives of the party.

She stated this at her first meeting with the newly constituted Excos, held at the labour party campaign office in Lagos.

Dayo, while speaking with GNB News, disclosed that the Party is now a unified one and has been able to resolve all its differences as members have finally come to a conclusive understanding for the common good of the party, noting that all the bodies and factions of Labour Party, are duly represented.

She however, noted that the conflict that existed in the party is a normal misunderstanding that abounds in politics and there’s no party existing without such differences but the most important thing is to ensure that the differences are amicably settled for the party to move forward. She also announced that the division in Labour Party, has become a thing of the past, as all members have resolved to work in peace and unity as one unified body while assuring that both at the state and federal level, the Party is geared towards victory.

GNB also reports that the Chairman, decried the deplorable state of the country, stating that Nigerians have been through lots of physical and psychological breakdown, she emphasized that it was time to put an end to the perpetual frustration by creating an opportunity for the new Nigeria where every citizen will have a sense of belonging and have equal opportunities to explore, which is what the Labour Party stands for.

She envisioned a Nigeria where people with innovative ideas and potentials will be given a chance to make the country a better place while laying emphasis on the key economic goal of the Party, according to its flag bearer Peter Obi, which is, moving the country from consumption to Production.

Thus she urged Nigerians to vote massively for Labour party candidates at all levels in order to actualize the vision of the presidential candidate who is determined to make Nigeria work again. She further encouraged Nigerians to jettison party Politics, ethnic affiliations and religious loyalty in casting their votes for labour party.

Speaking on her political journey, she noted that she joined politics while in higher institution and remains the only female that has attained the position of Vice president of the students union in her school till date. GNB news also gathered that she served under the then President Olusegun Obasanjo regime as a member of the presidential committee for women affairs in 1999 and has since been an active voice and figure in the political landscape. According to her, politics for her has always been about impacting and affecting her immediate environment positively and her transition from the position of deputy women leader to Chairman of the Labour Party, is a responsibility she would shoulder with every sense of commitment to ensure that there is total inclusion and participation of all members.

When asked about how she hopes to achieve the template of an all-inclusive leadership that she had proposed, Dayo revealed that communication is a vital tool for the goal. She spoke further on the importance of proper communication among members and how it would go a long way to aid in conflict resolution and effective dispensation of responsibilities, hence the need to adopt communication as a device to run an inclusive government.  While also noting that she cannot achieve the party’s goal alone, she however solicited the support of every member of the executive council and beckoned on them to maintain the peace that has been restored in the party so that victory can prevail.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Dayo stated that the party is ensuring that all the necessary structures are put in place especially in Lagos state, while also galvanizing the necessary support needed from all the party stakeholders to ensure that all that needs to be done is done speedily.

She advised Nigerians to guard against selling their future for peanuts while also appealing to them not to mortgage the destinies of their children by changing the political narratives and correcting the system. She charged them to use their PVCs to effect a change that would be of great benefit to Nigerians.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the party, Chief Sam Emeka Okpala, urged Nigerians to make their votes count by turning up in their numbers to install the change that they have long been yearning for. He encouraged every well-meaning Nigerian to vote for Labour party for a greater country.
