Delta Wins Bid to Host 2022 National Sports Festival

Following the rise of Team Delta as the general champ of the games at the National Sports Festival in Edo, Delta State will be the host of the 21st edition of the celebration in 2022.

Delta State won 384 awards, contained 158 gold, 116 silver, and 110 bronze to hold the prize. Host, Edo State took the second position with 341 awards, while Bayelsa came out third winning 169 medals.

Of the 1,965 medals won by the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Sokoto and Taraba States returned home with three and two bronze awards individually.

Talking at the end service of the celebration on Wednesday night around there, Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Development complimented Delta State for arising in the general hero of the biennial occasion.

Dare, represented by Nebeolisa Anako, Permanent Secretary of the service, said “I’m happy to take note of that the Federal Government got offers to have the 21st version of the National Sports Festival in 2022 from six states specifically: Delta, Ebonyi, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, and Ogun.

“Following the assessment of the offers and the actual appearance to the imminent States, I thusly declare Delta State as the following host of the National Sports Festival in 2022”.

The games celebration initiated on Friday, April 2, and finished on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
