Olatunji Disu, former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, has assumed the role of the new Commissioner of Police (CP) in Rivers State.

The introduction ceremony took place on Wednesday at the state headquarters in Port Harcourt, where he inspected the quarter guard and was presented to his team by the deputy commissioner in charge of operations.

Following this, the new CP conducted an unannounced visit to Ahoada East Local Government Area, where five individuals were recently killed.

Disu emphasized the need for his officers to be resilient, assuring them that those who harm police officers will not escape justice.

Disu succeeds Emeka Nwonyi, whose transfer may be linked to the incident involving the teargassing of Governor Sim Fubara.
