The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended several individuals involved in the production and distribution of Russian flags used during recent #EndBadGovernance protests in northern Nigeria.
Tailors in Kano State were the primary targets of the operation, with authorities also arresting their sponsors. While the reason behind the widespread display of Russian flags remains unclear, the DSS has confirmed that these individuals are now in custody.
The agency has denied claims that it detained Adaramoye Michael Lenin, a prominent critic of the government.
The protests, characterized by chants in Hausa and calls for government change, have erupted amid widespread public discontent over economic hardships caused by fuel subsidy removal and currency devaluation.
Similar arrests of flag producers have been made in Nasarawa State, underscoring the government’s determination to quell the demonstrations.
