The trial of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, in an alleged procurement fraud case has been adjourned by a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, to January 18 and 19, 2024.

Emefiele faces a six-count amended charge related to the alleged procurement of vehicles amounting to N1.6 billion.

He entered a plea of not guilty and was granted bail on November 17, 2023, with conditions including a bail amount of N300 million and two sureties.

During the recent hearing, a Prosecution Witness from the Corporate Affairs Commission confirmed that Emefiele was neither the owner nor a shareholder of April1616 Investment Limited, the company awarded the N1.2 billion vehicle supply contract by the CBN under Emefiele’s leadership.

Emefiele’s lawyer stated that he has not yet met the bail conditions.
