The country’s federal government has authorized a salary hike for the nation’s civil officials, according to Chris Ngige, the minister of labor and employment.

Ngige said this on Wednesday night’s episode of Politics Today on Channels Television.

The minister stated that the wage increase became necessary in light of the nation’s current economic situation, but added that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), has not yet approved the increment’s percentage.

He said that the wage increase will start on January 1, 2023, and that it was already planned for in the 2023 budget.

“To cover the rising expense of living, the Federal Government is considering providing public employees wage raises.

The Consolidated Public Service Pay System, as well as several corporations and MDAs that are on it, have benefited from the work of the Presidential Committee on Salaries. The pay scale for government servants is called CONPSS.

“We put a percentage on the table for the President’s approval, and our own committee has already accepted it. We specified that it should go into effect on January 1, 2023.
