First Lady Urges Early Autism Diagnosis and Inclusive Society

The First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu has passionately urged for early intervention and increased societal inclusion for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In her statement commemorating World Autism Awareness Day, Mrs. Tinubu stressed the importance of early diagnosis and the availability of support services in enabling individuals on the autism spectrum to achieve their maximum potential.

“I urge parents and caregivers to be attentive to developmental milestones and seek professional help if any concerns arise,” she urged.

The First Lady, acknowledged the significant hurdles encountered by individuals with autism and their families while also commending their distinctive strengths and creativity.

“I salute and celebrate the unwavering love and dedication of families with loved ones who are autistic,” Mrs. Tinubu stated.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the crucial role that community organizations play in offering vital resources, services, and opportunities for individuals with autism.

However, she also emphasized the need for further efforts to foster an accepting and inclusive environment for Nigerians living with autism.

“Together we can create a world where individuals, irrespective of who they are, and whatever challenges they face, are empowered, included, and celebrated for their unique gifts,” the First Lady declared.
