The lawmaker representing Orumba North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Emeka Aforka, has said the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will emerge victorious in the November 6 governorship election, regardless of political distractions.
He said the party’s authentic candidate remained the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, adding that the activities of the political gladiators were targeted at distracting party faithful.
Addressing reporters yesterday in Awka, the legislator appealed to aggrieved members to sheathe their swords and support the party by queuing behind Soludo.
He urged them to forget the idea of going to court, describing it as an exercise in futility, as it would only amount to a waste of resources.
Aforka said: “I don’t know why somebody should go to court to waste his resources. If you use that money to support the party to win the election, it would have been better and the party would have gone very far.
“APGA has made a unanimous decision. We have made our choice and our choice is the best. The right candidate for APGA in the person of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo is our choice as a family.
“Everybody is interested in becoming the governor. I am interested, you are interested, but everybody cannot be the governor of Anambra State. It must be one person at a time. For now, it is the time of Soludo. I advise aggrieved members to queue behind him and support the party.”
He said the history of winning election in the state would be repeated in the coming election.
“The overwhelming victory of 21/21 recorded in the last election of Governor Willie Obiano will repeat itself on November 6.
“APGA is a party to be with. We are on ground irrespective of scheming in the party. Just like in every family, you always have one or two issues. So, you can’t rule out the fact that there is no issue in any family.
“But in the case of APGA, we are taking care of issues and we are going to make it. APGA will take over Anambra State again,” Aforka said.
