Frank Lampard has spoken out on Instagram after being fired by Everton on Monday.

The Chelsea legend was fired on Monday following Everton’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham, their 11th defeat in their last 14 games in all competitions.

Lampard took to social media on Thursday night to express his disappointment at not being able to achieve more at Goodison Park.

“Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season,” he said alongside a photo of him celebrating with Everton fans. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the club coming together. I’ll never forget the incredible night we had against Palace.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Everton for the warm welcome you gave to myself, my staff, and my family. It truly is a unique club with a big heart and a fascinating history. I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more as a team, and I wish all of the players and everyone at Everton FC the best of luck in the future.”
