INEC Presents Newly Elected Senators Certificates Of Return.

Winners of Nigeria’s Senate elections on February 25, 2023 received Certificates of Return on Tuesday from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, delivered the speech at the Abuja National Collation Centre (International Conference Centre).

Yakubu had stated on Saturday that results had been announced for 423 legislative seats, meaning that there would be 46 additional constituencies where elections would be held.

98 of the 109 Senate seats and 325 of the 360 House of Representatives seats are filled by elected lawmakers. Eight parties won seats in the House of Representatives, compared to seven winning the Senate.

The newly elected House of Representatives is anticipated to receive theirs on Wednesday at the same location.

According to the INEC chief, the APC won 57 Senate seats for the 10th Assembly, followed by the PDP with 29; the LP with 6; the SDP with 2; the NNPP with 2, the YPP with 1, and the APGA with 1. The electoral chair reported that the APC has 162 seats in the lower house, compared to the PDP’s 102, the LP’s 34, the NNPP’s 18 seats, the APGA’s 4, the ADC’s 2, the SDP’s 2, and the YPP’s 1.
