Manchester United has dealt with another setback as their midfielder, Casemiro, has sustained a hamstring injury, ruling him out of action for “several weeks.”
The 31-year-old returned to captain the team in the League Cup match against Newcastle after missing three games but was substituted at half-time during a 3-0 loss.
The club said in a statement: “Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao (League) Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
United currently sits in eighth place in the Premier League standings, with a challenging path to reaching the Champions League knockout stages.
“The Brazilian midfielder was withdrawn at half-time due to the issue, and subsequent assessment has revealed a strain that will keep him out for a number of weeks.”
