In view of the deteriorating insecurity situation in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has berated his Service Chiefs, told them their best was not good enough.
The National Security Adviser, retired Major General Babagana Monguno, who spoke to State House reporters on Thursday after a meeting with service chiefs, said President Buhari expressed great concern over the current security situation.
Monguno further briefed that the President told the service chiefs that his administration coming into power, promised to tackle the security challenge, revive the economy, and deal with the scourge of corruption. He added that the pursuit of economic growth and the war on corruption would be an “exercise in futility” without security.

As disclosed by the Rtd Major General, the President told the security chiefs that he would not accept further worsening of the current situation and it was left for the service chiefs to live up to expectations.
Munguno also revealed that the President was also disturbed by lack of synergy among the security agencies and has called the Governors of North West and Niger State for a meeting on the current security challenge.
