No fewer than 22 military personnel who died in combat in Niger State are being laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on August 14, announced the death of at least 36 officers who were killed in battle their officers’ helicopter was shot down by some insurgents in the Zungeru area of Niger State.
Some of the deceased officers had already been buried by their families.
Reports from the burial have it that the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba; Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa; and other service chiefs.
