In a raid by bandits on the Catholic Parish House in Kamanton, Kaduna State’s Zango Kataf Local Government Area, a seminarian named Bro. Stephen Naman Ngofe was burned beyond recognition and left for dead on Thursday night.

The parish house was invaded by the assailants about 8 p.m., and they set it on fire alongside a car, according to information obtained by newsmen.

The police authorities and the Catholic Church in Kaduna State are yet to comment on the incident, but an eye witness said that the bandits in their large numbers stormed the Saint Raphael parish at Fadan Kamantan, Kafanchan Diocese on Thursday night and set the building ablaze alongside a vehicle parked in the premises.

According to sources, the late seminarian, Stephen, passed away after breathing in smoke while attempting to flee the assailants’ hands. Two additional people who were in the building at the time the incident occurred manage to escape the oncoming blaze and the attackers’ abduction attempt.

They are Assistant Parish Priest Monday Noah and Parish Priest Emmanuel Okolo.
