The Lekki Concession Company, operators of the Lekki toll gate, has submitted surveillance footage of the October 20 2020 Lekki Tollgate shooting during the #EndSARS protests.
GNB News learnt that the video footage contains what was captured by the cameras of what happened at the Lekki toll gate plaza on that Tuesday night as soldiers allegedly opened fire on peaceful protesters.
The Managing Director of LCC, Abayomi Omomuwa, submitted the video footage on Tuesday to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State Government to probe the Lekki shootings as well as complaints of human rights abuses against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Presenting the hard drive containing the footage, Omomuwa said “I can confirm that inside here is the video footage that our surveillance camera was able to record for the 20th of October.”
Omomuwa said the cameras were initially not tampered with — not until around 8pm when they stopped recording.
The shooting was said to have started around 7pm.
“I can confirm categorically that we never ever tampered with that surveillance cameras. That’s why we can still get the footage. Until 8 o’clock when it was tampered with and we couldn’t get any footage anymore,” he said.
The judicial panel had visited the tollgate where the LCC assured it that the recording from its closed-circuit television system (CCTV) on the night of the incident was intact.
The company had also said the power outage on the night of the shooting was because its staff were withdrawn from office locations; hence they could not switch on backup generators when power was interrupted.
Federal government had instructed State governments to set up judicial panels of inquiries in their respective states to look into the complaints of human rights abuses against members of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Lagos panel is also charged with the responsibility of unveiling the truth of what happened at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
