NCDC: 185 DIES OUT OF 951 CONFIRMED LASSA FEVER CASES IN 2020

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in its most recent social media health report uncovered that out of 951 confirmed cases of Lassa fever in 2020, 185 individuals dies of Lassa fever.

The Thursday report stated that readings for new cases dropped from 28 cases in week 12 to 19 cases in the revealing week .

As indicated by the organization, one new death from Lassa fever was accounted for in week 13 while the overwhelming age-bunch influenced was 21-30 years. He added the new cases were accounted for in Edo, Ondo, Ebonyi, Bauchi, Taraba, Plateau, Kogi, and Delta.

Lassa fever with an incubation time range of six and 21 days is a viral haemorrhagic fever that can be transmitted through contact of natural liquids and discharge of an infected person.

This disease is common in West Africa and contracted through food contaminated with rodent faeces  and urine.  Symptoms mostly include high fever, mouth ulcers, muscle aches, headache, heart and kidney failure and haemorrhage.
