[News Flash] COVID-19: Buhari Approves Special Allowances For Frontline Health Workers

As Nigeria’s combat of the ongoing pandemic further intensifies, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved payment of Special #COVlD19 Hazard & inducement Allowances to all health workers at the frontline of this novel coronavirus fight. This news was broken by the Special Assistant to the President on Digital & New Media, Mr Tolu Ogunlesi, on his twitter page.

According to Mr Ogunlesi, 1. 50% of Consolidated Basic Salary will be paid to all Health Workers in all Nigerian Teaching Hospitals, Federal Medical Center, designated #COVlD19 Centres and Primary Health Care centers.

In the same vein, he said 40% of Consolidated Basic Salary will be paid to Health Workers at Special Non-Public Hospitals and Clinics in the Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)

Furthermore, he added that 20% of Consolidated Basic Salary will be paid as SPECIAL RlSK ALLOWANCE in addition to the Special #COVID19 Hazard and inducement Allowance, to all health workers directly managing #COVlD19 at the infectious Diseases Hospitals, and isolation and Treatment Centres.

He capped his statement by saying that 10% of Consolidated Basic Salary will be paid as Special Allowance for #COVID19 period, to all non-core medical professionals working in health sector & operating at all the aforementioned Hospitals/Clinics All Special Allowances payable for THREE (3) months in 1st instance

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Insurance Industry recently announced its contribution to the #Covid19 response with Provision of Life Insurance cover to 5,000 frontline medical workers; with Premium of N112,500,000 already fully paid.
