The Nigerian Under-17 Golden Eaglets have been eliminated from the Under-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Algeria. In the quarterfinals of the competition on Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, the squad fell to Burkina Faso 1-2.
As a result of failing to go past the quarterfinal round of the current AFCON, Nigeria was unable to secure a ticket to the 2023 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in November.
Following a defensive blunder by Tochukwu Ogbiji, Aboubacar Camara gave the Burkina Faso team the lead in the 45th minute of the game.
