After failing to attend an earlier invitation from the House of Representatives, Nigeria’s Service Chiefs made an appearance on Tuesday before the 10th National Assembly for a discussion on the country’s security challenges.
The Security Chiefs, who were appointed in July by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were summoned by lawmakers last week to provide a briefing on the nation’s security situation.
The invited Chiefs included Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff), and Kayode Egbetokun (Inspector-General of Police).
However, during the initially scheduled meeting, the Chiefs were notably absent, prompting the House to suspend the planned sectoral debate.
The lawmakers insisted that each Chief must personally appear, as delegates had been sent in their place during the previous invitation.
