Vice President Kashim Shettima Nigeria’s Housing Deficit Requires N21 Trillion, Says VP Shettima says, Nigeria requires a total of N21 trillion to address the nation’s housing shortfall. He made these remarks during the ground-breaking ceremony for a 500-unit housing estate to be constructed by the Sokoto State government.

In a statement released by Olusola Abiola, the Director in the Office of the Vice President, Senator Shettima highlighted that Nigeria currently faces a housing deficit of 28 million homes. Nevertheless, he commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State for his efforts at tackling the housing needs of his people.

The  project, situated in the Wamakko Local Government Area of the state, is expected to cost the state government N7.3 billion.

Governor Aliyu has stated that the housing estate will primarily serve civil servants and will be available for purchase by them upon completion, following an owner-occupier basis .
