Following the peace meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Friday, members of the Ondo State House of Assembly are scheduled to convene today (Tuesday) to deliberate on the state’s political situation.

A source within the Assembly revealed that one of the key agenda items for today’s plenary is the consideration of whether to designate the state deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the acting governor due to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s prolonged absence.

“The House plans to sit tomorrow (Tuesday), and Aiyedatiwa may be declared acting governor during the sitting. This is part of the outcome of the meeting with President Tinubu,” the source stated.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no information available from the Speaker.

It’s worth recalling that President Tinubu met with the leadership of the Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ondo state last Friday to address the prolonged political crisis in the state. Following the meeting, the Assembly announced dropping the move to impeach the deputy governor over alleged gross misconduct.

The resolution indicated that the status quo should remain, with Akeredolu as governor and Aiyedatiwa as deputy governor, and that there should be no impeachment.
