As the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal begins hearing today, Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election, has arrived at the hearing location.

Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of the All Progressives Congress, won the election by defeating Obi and other candidates from other parties.

On the grounds that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s rules and the electoral laws were not followed, five political parties and their candidates have each challenged the results of the presidential election held on February 25.

According to The PUNCH, Justice Stephen Adah of the Court of Appeal Asaba division, Justice Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf, and Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal Haruna Tsammani would preside over the numerous petitions that will be filed.

Court of Appeal also of Asaba Division; Justice Boloukuoromo Ugoh of Kano division and Justice Abba Mohammed of Ibadan Court of Appeal.

Justice Haruna Tsammani promised that justice will be carried out shortly before the five-member panel of justices, which was to meet and be presided over by the presiding justice of the PEPC, convened.

“We are determined to look at the matter dispassionately and give justice to whoever deserves justice,” Justice Tsammani stated.

He stated that each case would be evaluated on its merits rather than its technicalities, ensuring that “whoever leaves here will be satisfied that justice has been done.”

He cautioned parties against making pointless requests that would cause proceedings to drag out.
