The Traditional Wrestling was a very popular sports among the Igbo people before the coming of the colonial masters. It is one of the event which is not so popular in the modern age but a group of Igbo people living in the United States of America known as Umu Igbo Unite engaged in the sporting event to the delight of the crowd
The wrestling event took place during the 2022 annual convention of the Igbo group on Friday, 5th of August 2022 at Arlington Virginia, United States of America.
According to a video shared on Facebook the Igbo people present were seen playing some musical instruments like the gong, local drums etc. An Igbo man was also their to play a local flute which is one of the ways to praise warriors and great wrestlers.
The wrestlers took to the platform while the crowd of both Igbo people and non Igbo people gathered to see the contest. The man who lifts his opponent and places him on the ground was announced the winner of the contest.
