South-East Governors Forum have reached an agreement making it compulsory that all teachers to undergo COVID-19 test before schools in the region reopen.
The Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ forum and Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, disclosed this at the Government House in Abakaliki, the state capital while briefing newsmen of the outcome of the virtual meeting of the forum on Sunday.
He noted the fear the governors have to be for children in kindergarten classes, who do not understand social distancing.
“How many of our schools have running water and how many sanitisers have been provided for them?” He asked.

He noted that school infrastructure would be reviewed by the forum to support Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines ahead of the federal government’s decision on re-opening.
Umahi added: “We will then review our position and tell our people the safest time to re-open schools with our health workers to enforce the NCDC protocols”.
