The Senate has officially approved the remaining three Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) nominated by President Bola Tinubu for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

These nominees include Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi from Lagos State, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha from Rivers State, and Mr. Isma’ila Kaura Moyi from Zamfara State.

It’s worth noting that these three nominees were not present during the initial confirmation of the seven other RECs on Wednesday.

The seven RECs confirmed on that day were Mr. Etekamba Umoren (Akwa Ibom), Mr. Isha Ehimeakne (Edo), Barr. Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Mr. Abubakar Ahmed (Gombe), Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Aminu Idris (Nasarawa), and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq (Niger).

The confirmation of these appointments aligns with President Tinubu’s request and complies with Section 154(1) of the Constitution, as he had recently selected 10 new RECs for INEC, each serving a five-year term.
