Third Batch of Stranded Nigerians To Arrive Tuesday From UK

GNB News learnt that the third batch of Nigerians stranded in the United Kingdom (UK) will arrive on Tuesday,

No fewer than 584 Nigerians were rescheduled for evacuation.

The Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) announced the take -off the flight Tuesday morning in a tweet.

According to the tweet, the flight is expected to arrive the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

“The Third batch of Nigeria Nationals boarding at London Gatwick Airport.

“The flight was rescheduled from 13th to 14th of July due to the landing clearance issues by

“They will arrive Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport Abuja later today to proceed on a 14 day SELF ISOLATION as madanted by
@NCDCgov and Presidential Task Force on #Covid_19.”The tweet read.

The evacuation of stranded Nigerians from the United Kingdom was delayed because the UK government denied Nigeria’s Air Peace landing permit, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, said Sunday night.

Air Peace airline which had evacuated over 300 Nigerians from the UK about a fortnight ago, consequently, sought for an alternative by wet-lease aircraft from a UK company, Air Partner, to airlift the stranded Nigerians, instead of refunding their payments.
