The bill swiftly progressed through readings in both legislative houses, with lawmakers emphasizing its significance for the country.

President Tinubu had previously requested approval from the National Assembly for the sum of N2,176,791,286,033 to address labor wage adjustments, security, and other needs in the 2023 supplementary budget.

The Senate and the House of Representatives had passed the supplementary appropriation bill last Thursday following a third reading.

He had also submitted the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) & Fiscal Strategy Paper to both chambers.

The Senate had recently approved N819 billion, including provisions for a N500 billion palliative package.

Tinubu explained that the supplementary bill was essential for additional palliative measures, including wage adjustments. The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by the President, had approved the 2023 supplementary budget of N2.1 trillion on the preceding Monday.
